The Garden of Surging Waves at the Astoria Heritage Square was designed to visually represent the transition of early immigrants, as well as provide an interpretive space utilizing Chinese design principles to illustrate cultural values. Six major art pieces were imported from Xian, China for an authentic interpretation. A colorful glass donor wall was installed to pay respects to the contributors who helped make the garden come to life. Scope of work included demolition, site preparation, grading, paving, irrigation and coordination of the installation of the many owner and artisan furnished components. The Garden of Surging Waves was selected by the Collaboration of Design + Art (CODA) as one of the top 100 projects of 2014.
