Grand Ridge Plaza Earns LEED Certification

Robinson Construction Co. was selected by Regency Centers Corporation to construct a six-structure, 43,100-square foot project for Grand Ridge Plaza at Issaquah Highlands, just east of Seattle. From pre-construction to closeout, emphasis was placed on sustainability in both design and construction. The green building strategies employed on the project have earned Grand Ridge Plaza LEED Silver certification. The certification was awarded based on three major areas of reducing natural resource consumption – energy efficiency, water conservation and waste reduction.

Energy efficiency measures such as high performance variable-speed fan HVAC units, advanced energy management systems and LED lighting were used to significantly reduce building energy use. Through the use of smart water management, xeriscaping and high-efficiency plumbing fixtures, the contractor ensured reduced potable water consumption. During construction, waste materials were successfully diverted from landfills by either re-using materials on-site or moving them to an off-site recycling facility.

The Grand Ridge Plaza project consisted of five multi-tenant buildings and a 10,000-square foot BevMo building, including several tenant improvement build-outs. Grand Ridge Plaza is a destination retail and entertainment center, housing a Safeway, a 12-screen Regal Cinema, Frame Central, and Carter’s, among other tenants. The final project by Robinson Construction Co. was completed on time, within budget and meets high standards of sustainability.
